Made By Meer.
As we are in the our Planning For Paradise re-brand phase we are searching high + low for some of the most beautiful things wedding related to share with you all. We came across this talented babe on one of our many IG binges -- you know the one where you end up on your cousins girlfriends best friends sisters page type of binge -- ...+ there she was. The most beautifully hand drawn floral print we have ever laid our eyes on. MAJOR swoon. We teamed up with Made By Meer to create an Exclusive Invitation Suite for Planning For Paradise, showcasing upcoming trends, ideas + how to make your invites stand out from the crowd.
She is the owner of Made by Meer, a calligraphy and stationery design studio in San Diego, California. She is a wife to Steven + a mama to her 10-month-old, Henry. Lover of strong coffee, monograms, + a handwritten note. And possibly one of our most favorite people! We are slightly obsessed with her beautiful work -- not to the point where it's unhealthy... yet.
Tell us all about yourself + your business.
Well, I am Nikki, the calligrapher + stationery designer behind Made by Meer. Most days, you can find me at my desk dipping my pen in ink and dreaming up ideas for the sweet brides I get to work with. Meshing my love for calligraphy, illustration, and watercolor helps me offer a unique approach to creating custom stationery. The approach I take around creating is centered around getting to know my couples, their likes, their dislikes, what’s truly important to them. Planning a wedding can be overwhelming so I’m always looking for ways to genuinely make it a great experience.
What is your style?
My style is elegant + romantic. I’m really inspired by florals + antique pieces (us too, twinning)!
What was your inspiration behind this loveliness?
The inspiration for this invitation came from a draping floral arrangement + I knew I wanted to incorporate it with a flowy, flourished script. Placing the entire floral arrangement on the back of the invitation creates a keepsake for the guests, encouraging them to frame or keep it (love this). Handmade paper from Silk + Willow was used to give the invitation a vintage feel while hand calligraphed envelopes that match tie everything together.
Any advice for future brides when creating their custom invitations?
Invitations set the tone of your wedding + when choosing them always keep in mind how you can make your guests feel appreciated from the very beginning.
